Diversity In The Workforce


The main type of diversity in the workforce that I would like to talk about is Discrimination. You never want to discriminate on someone and there is many different forms of discrimination. A couple examples are: Age, Race, Gender, etc. Many different people have many different skills. Some employers loose good people for there positions because they base there hiring on the wrong things. Just because a person is a female instead of male they may not get hired for a construction position when they may have better experience. Also, another example is just because a person is gay they may think they have HIV. This is not the case. I strongly disagree with this. A person should not base there hiring on if someone is gay, straight, black, white, etc. The employers should base there hiring on a persons resume and application. A business succeeds with many types of different people with the best experience for the positions. In conclusion, businesses that embrace diversity have a more solid footing in the marketplace than others. A diverse workforce combines workers from different backgrounds and experiences that together breed a more creative, innovative, and productive workforce.
